Guests staying at Pen Y Garn Cottage have really enjoyed watching the birds coming to the bird feeders on the terrace this year. Two new birds have been spotted by guests this summer, the Coal Tit and the Mistle thrush. The birds spotted at Pen Y Garn reference book has been updated and I have also put the birds in to alphebetical order which makes searching a little easier. The Mistle thrush is on the RSPB red list so we are delighted to have this rarety as a visitor to the garden.
I have to admit this photo of a Red Kite flying over the garden here at Pen Y Garn was a complete flook! I only saw the bird after I had loaded the photos on to the computer. Had I tried to get the shot I am pretty sure I would have missed it. Having said that there are plenty of opportunitites to see these beautiful birds hunting for food.
We have stocked up on fat balls, peanuts and wild bird seed to keep our gorgeous visitors well fed over the colder months. There were a few feeding this morning, but typically as soon as a got my camera out they became a bit camera shy. I had hoped to get a shot of our friendly robin while I was planting primroses on the bank this afternoon, but sadly I only heard him rather than saw him. I will have to save this for a later blog.
