It is always a delight to have another keen gardener stay with us and talk plants and general gardening stuff.  Even more delight when they turn up with a plant from their own garden.  However when they go onto tell you that their own garden is in the National Garden Scheme it becomes somewhat daunting.  Still I find gardeners very generous souls and although there was a bit of competition about the size of my onions, we had a serious of lovely conversations about gardens to visit and inevitably how to deal with garden pests.

I was able to point our guests to the National Botanic Garden of Wales  and their annual plant sale.  This is something I look forward to every year and a significant part of my garden is populated with plants from this sale.  At the end of the day we were able to compare ‘plant haul’ with our guests and agree what a fantastic place the Botanic Garden is and then go on to talk about the wonders of compost.

More gardeners delight to visit

The following day our guests visited Aberglasney having been inspired to visit after we want them the book on the history of the restoration of the gardens. Another gorgeous place to go and only 20 minutes from the cottage. We are very blessed with gardens to visit in Carmarthenshire including 32 in the National Garden Scheme for Carmarthen and Pembrokeshire.  This truly is a gardeners delight with places to visit and then to come back and relax in Pen Y Garn’s gardens.
