Mynedd Mawr  –  is walking distance from 94, High Street for blowing away the cobwebs and exercising your dog/s.  Llyn Llech Owain is near Gorslas just a few miles from both properties.  Legend has it that many years ago on , there was a magic well in Mynedd Mawr which had been gifted by the fairies. The fairies told the local farmer to keep a large flat stone, over its mouth and to replace it after he had got water for his animals.  One hot summer evening Owain Glyndwr was passing through the ancient kingdom of South Wales, and he and his horse were hot and tired. When he came across the well he removed the covering stone and after he and his horse had drunk their fill he lay down and fell asleep.

In the night he woke to the sound of flowing waters, and looking out saw a dark lake where there had been fields. Understanding this was a magic place he rode his horse round the flood, knowing this would cease the flow of water.

Make sure you look out for fairies when you visit!
